J's Tonic

From humble beginnings as quiet dedicated solo songwriter since 2002, scrawling hundreds of unheard intimate ballards, James Moss, aka J’s Tonic, thrust into the London Indie scene in 2006 through 2019 with raw rock outfit We Are Falcon as lead singer, writer and guitarist, arrowing intimate poetic lyrics that wove through the combustion-engine-like wall of melody-drenched anthemic rock sounds. Supporting the likes of Steve Craddock (of Paul Weller) at Brixton Jamm, Headlining at Cargo, Water Rats and more, and Finalists at Bush Theatre’s Battle of the Bands, as well as quarter of a million listeners with their track Second Go selected on FHM’s monthly youtube hype video. Comparisons made to the Talking heads and vocal delivery of Kings of Leon. As the We Are Falcon project disbanded, a new East London 3 piece Hotmess emerged, continuing to display the J’s Tonic’s skill and thirst for cultivating precision-built soul thumping bangers, all the while demonstrating a uniquely identifiable gold-gilded songwriting fingerprint, sifted from 17 years immersed in penmanship, live performance, and production studio sound. However, a taste for a return to low key, intimate style has recently lead J’s Tonic to pursue more solo writing and gigging, leading to the songwriter returning out west towards those humble beginnings in the west country. With most recent work drawing parallels to Father John Misty, Jack Johnson, Lou Reed, Fleetwood Mac and Nick Mulvey.

J’s Tonic's January 2024 folk album is a musical journey that bridges his indie rock roots with soulful storytelling.
